The Senior Employee Relations Specialist is primarily responsible for providing guidance, training and advice to managers, supervisors and employees in the areas of employee relations, EEO, compliance issues, policies, procedures, performance management, and other employment law matters.  Provides facilitation and support to the Employee Services Team regarding employment policy and employee relations as a liaison of the Human Resources Team while acting in accordance with company values, vision and mission.


  1. Provide employee relations, performance management, and correction action guidance and support to leadership and Employee Service Team.
  2. Review and approve progressive disciplinary notices.  Escalate bypassing of progressive steps and/or terminations of employment to HR Leadership for review and approval.
  3. Interpret Progressive Discipline Policy and other employment related policies to ensure consistent and fair application for improved employee morale and attainment of objectives.
  4. Provide opportunities for policy and process improvement to HR Leadership. Update Employee Handbook accordingly.
  5. Conduct quarterly employee relations training with Employee Services Team and Leadership.
  6. Conduct employment investigations as needed. Manage incoming requests.
  7. Coordinate organization's employee engagement program and provide recommendations for enhancement.
  8. Design and implement programs and recognition activities as designated by HR Leadership.
  9. Participate in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
  10. Work with HR team members to assist with various metrics including but not limited to EEOC reporting, Employee Survey results and statistics.
  11. Manage the FF Employee Hardship Fund, including collecting data for all applications, sending out to committee for review and vote of applications, sending letters to employees that apply and handle reimbursement to TFAC.
  12. Manage the Random drug testing process.
  13. Assist Human Resources Leadership with various special projects as assigned.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required.
  2. PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.
  3. Minimum of five (5) years prior human resources experience, with an emphasis on employee relations.
  4. Strong working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office software systems.
  5. Excellent judgement and decision-making skills.
  6. Ability to communicate (written, verbal and non-verbal) clearly and maintain a consistent professional and positive, upbeat manner.
  7. Exceptional customer service and problem-solving skills.
  8. Active listening skills.
  9. Must be proactive and service oriented with keen attention to detail; ability to anticipate needs required.
